Interactors: Capturing Qos and Resource Requirements between Multiple Cooperating Objects

چکیده

Complex distributed applications, including virtual environments, and real-time multimedia require quality of service (QoS) guarantees in the end-to-end transfer of information across a network. For many applications, these QoS requirements are formulated on application-level objects and are dynamic, since they may change during the execution of the application. To support dynamic QoS guarantees requires the management of processing , memory, and network resources. Consequently, we introducèinteractors', which capture the dynamic QoS and resource requirements at each stage in the generation , processing, and transfer of information between multiple cooperating objects.

Interactors: Capturing Tradeoos in Bandwidth versus Cpu Usage for Quality of Service Constrained Objects

Complex distributed applications, including virtual environments, and real-time multimedia require performance guarantees in the end-to-end transfer of information across a network. To make such guarantees requires the management of processing, memory, and network resources. This paper describes the Dionisys end-system quality of service (QoS) approach to specifying, translating, and enforcing ...

The QOS Broker

Many networked multimedia applications are delay-sensitive, and hence desire services with guarantees of resouce availability and timeliness. For networks such as those based on Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), these services are specified through Quality of Service (QoS) parameters. Delivering end-to-end QoS implies complex resource management at the end-points (e.g., computer workstation hos...

A New Fairness Index and Novel Approach for QoS-Aware Resource Allocation in LTE Networks Based on Utility Functions

Resource allocation techniques have recently appeared as a widely recognized feature in LTE networks. Most of existing approaches in resource allocation focus on maximizing network’s utility functions. The great potential of utility function in improving resource allocation and enhancing fairness and mean opinion score (MOS) indexes has attracted large efforts over the last few years. In this p...
